How Laser Hair Removal Works
17 January 2008If you’re interested in laser hair removal, it’s important, as a first step, to learn how it works. Laser hair removal technology is the use of an invisible beam of light and a constant source of heat that penetrates the hair follicle, disabling and then destroying it at its root while preserving the surrounding skin.
The procedure of removing unwanted hair is simply targeting the follicle and then directing the laser beam at its root. The hair removal process begins as the laser beam finds the hair follicle that it is targeting by first finding the melanin (the dark color of the hair).

Will Laser Hair Removal Work for Me?
8 January 2008Unwanted hair can be both embarrassing and annoying. If you’re looking for a more permanent solution, laser hair removal may be for you.
Laser hair removal treatment is commonly used in areas such as legs, armpits, upper lip, chin and bikini line. There’s no guarantee the hair won’t come back, but laser hair removal does last for longer periods of time.
Whether laser hair removal will work for you revolves around several factors, most prominently hair color and skin type. Generally speaking, treatment has been found to be most successful on people with dark hair. Light hair, such as blonde or red, contains a pigment that doesn’t absorb laser energy as well and therefore, does not respond as well to therapy. People with dark brown or black hair have the highest rates of response.

28 December 2007Laser hair removal may be somewhat uncomfortable. As with anything, the pain or discomfort you feel may be different from others who have had the procedure. That said, most people tolerate laser hair removal very well.
At first, you will likely feel a slight stinging sensation, indicating that the laser has been activated. The treatment involves a series of impulses that cause prickling and a slight burning sensation. Your clinician may apply a topical anesthetic to the area being treated to minimize discomfort, but most people endure the procedure without any. Some people have likened the feeling to that of a rubber band snapping against your skin.

11 December 2007We offer complete full body (including bikini line) hair removal. Our new profile laser uses an infrared light beam that can selectively target microstructures such as hair follicles. It is very effective for lighter skin types and, because of the relatively low absorption of this light by melanin, it is the best choice when treating darker skin types. Additionally, the ability to safely treat sun-tanned skin makes this the treatment of choice for active individuals.

11 December 2007Prices vary widely from clinic to clinic. Some also offer discounts for paying up front for multiple treatments. Although the upside is possibly paying less money overall, this also involves signing a contract which will prevent you from getting any refunds in case something goes wrong or you are not happy with the services before and/or after you are done. Remember, that laser doesn’t work on everyone also when making this decision. It’s recommended that you get 3-4 consultations before deciding on a clinic as well to compare prices and technician’s experience etc.

11 December 2007This occurrence HAS been reported by consumers on various forums, although it has not been medically proven or confirmed. It is a rare occurrence and usually seems to happen when treating woman’s face or men’s back/shoulders/upper arms – usually when treating SPARSE SINGLE HAIRS or FINE VELLUS hairs and at lower settings. The best way to stay on the safe side is to only treat areas with laser that have coarse dark hair and make sure the technician doesn’t touch any sparse or vellus hairs. Those hairs should be removed with electrolysis.
